Sheet Metal Design for Manufacturing Application

Back to Services

Program Description

This program develops participants’ competency in designing sheet metal components and assemblies based on manufacturing requirements. The training covers sheet metal design principles, material selection, bend allowance, feature development, design for manufacturability, and preparation of production-ready drawings or 3D models. Practical activities emphasize creating designs that can be efficiently fabricated through processes such as cutting, bending, forming, and joining while meeting dimensional and quality requirements.

Certification Industry - Solidwork CSWP-SM
Duration 40 JP

Method

Instructor-led technical explanation and design demonstration
Hands-on sheet metal modeling and design exercises using CAD software
Practical design project, manufacturability review, and competency assessment

Requirements

Basic mechanical engineering and manufacturing knowledge
Ability to interpret technical drawings and basic dimensions
Basic CAD modeling knowledge is recommended

Target Participants

Mechanical and manufacturing engineering personnel
Product and mechanical designers
CAD designers and technicians
Production and tooling personnel involved in sheet metal fabrication
Vocational graduates or technical personnel preparing for manufacturing applications

Learning Output

Participants are able to develop production-oriented sheet metal designs based on technical specifications, apply appropriate material and bending considerations, create manufacturable 3D models and technical drawings, evaluate design feasibility, and improve designs to meet dimensional, functional, and manufacturing requirements.

Program Advantages

The program connects sheet metal design principles with practical manufacturing considerations, helping participants understand how design decisions affect fabrication processes, accuracy, cost, and production efficiency. Through hands-on CAD exercises and a practical design project, participants develop the ability to create sheet metal designs that are more suitable for actual industrial production.
