Program Description

This competency-based training program develops practical SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) skills required in industrial fabrication and manufacturing environments. Participants learn welding principles, equipment preparation, electrode selection, welding parameters, joint preparation, welding techniques, and basic quality inspection. The training progresses from fundamental welding practices to hands-on application through production-oriented exercises.

Method

Classroom instruction, instructor demonstration, hands-on welding practice, guided exercises, defect analysis, workplace simulation, and competency-based assessment.

Requirements

Participants should have basic knowledge of workshop practices and occupational safety. No prior SMAW welding experience is required, although basic familiarity with metalworking tools is beneficial.

Target Participants

Welding operators, production personnel, fabrication technicians, vocational school graduates, junior technicians, and individuals preparing for welding work in industrial environments.

Learning Output

Participants are able to prepare SMAW welding equipment, select suitable electrodes and welding parameters, perform basic welding operations on common joint configurations, and inspect weld results while applying appropriate safety and work procedures.
