Mold Design Drafting for Industrial Application

Back to Services

Program Description

This program develops practical drafting skills for producing clear, accurate, and manufacturing-ready documentation for plastic injection molds. Participants learn to translate product geometry and mold concepts into detailed 2D drawings and 3D references while considering parting lines, mold components, tolerances, fits, cooling arrangements, ejection systems, and assembly requirements. The training emphasizes drafting quality that supports communication between design, machining, mold assembly, and production teams.

Certification Industry - Solidwork CSWP-MM
Duration 40 JP

Method

Instructor demonstrations using industrial mold drawings and CAD examples
Guided CAD drafting and detailing exercises
Practical project involving the preparation and review of mold documentation

Requirements

Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering and technical drawing
Able to interpret dimensions, tolerances, and sectional views
Basic experience with 2D/3D CAD software is recommended

Target Participants

Mold design drafters and mechanical design personnel
Tooling and manufacturing engineers
CAD operators and technical drawing personnel
Mold makers and technicians who need stronger drawing interpretation skills
Vocational or engineering graduates preparing for the tooling industry

Learning Output

Participants will be able to produce structured and technically accurate mold drawings from a given product and mold concept, including component details, assembly views, sectional representations, dimensions, tolerances, and relevant technical specifications, while ensuring that the documentation can be effectively used for mold manufacturing, inspection, and assembly.

Program Advantages

The training strengthens the connection between CAD drafting and actual mold-making requirements, helping participants create drawings that are easier to manufacture, inspect, assemble, and revise. It also builds awareness of common detailing issues that can lead to machining errors, assembly difficulties, or inconsistencies between the mold design and production requirements.
